sites with resources -- click the green text!
- Ruffle
- the best Adobe Flash emulator out there (and the safest). one of my favorite resources because of its portability- i even keep it on a flash drive lol
- eMoeMo
- full of デコメ (dekome - the precursor to emojis; usually found on 2000s Japanese mobile phone e-mails)! i use this pretty frequently, mostly for the tiny animated GIFs
around my site, and i like the old-school feel. right click > load image if things aren't appearing ^_^
- The 88x31 GIF Collection
- one of those sites every Neocities user has probably looked at, at least once. it's got the coolest buttons EVER and is a nostalgia trip to search through.
- RV's Free JS/DHTML Effects
- this is where i got my sparkly banner text from, but there's lots of other effects that you can use on your website here! they're kind of outdated by HTML5 standards, but should still work fine.
- Cursors4U
- exactly what it sounds like. i got my site's cursor from here. too bad the animated ones only work on Internet Explorer, because they're so cool...
- Sadgrl's RSS Guide
- to be honest, this whole website is insanely helpful! but as someone who was clueless about RSS and wanted to use it, this guide definitely helped me the most out of all of the available guides.
- Mani's Neocities Tutorial
- i would not have known how to migrate my code over here without this video...
sites that inspired mine!
- FF7BC (Before Crisis) Official Flash Site
- a site for the 2nd game in the FF7 series, which was only released in Japan and is basically lost media at the moment. the intro is freakin' AWESOME. a big inspiration for me to get into sitemaking, & some of the content on my site comes from here!
- FF7ACC (Advent Children Complete) Official Flash Site
- a site for the second, more... well, complete... version of the FF7 film. i really like the sound effects. the English version of the site was taken down, but for some reason, SQUARE STILL PAYS FOR THE JAPANESE DOMAIN (knock on wood)!!!! it has cool wallpapers & a link to the site for the first version of the movie, labeled FF7AC. (you need Ruffle or a browser that runs Flash to visit)
- Final Fantasy VII -Excavation-
- another major source of inspiration for me to start building my own site- i spoke more about it in my first blog. if you want to learn more about FF7, i'd say this is a perfect place to start.
- The Lifestream
- an FF7 fansite that's existed for a super-long time and is still semi-active today. i became interested in lost media preservation because of this community. take some time to visit my favorite part- the deleted FF7 content section!
- Empire - Rufus Shinra Fanlisting
- let me preface this by saying i DO NAWTTTTTTTTT align with this webmaster's preferences in ships at all Please Get Out
(clears throat) anyway, this site was once an official fanlisting for my fave FF7 character, Rufus Shinra. i think it does a near-perfect job of describing his personality. i actually considered taking the reins and heading my own fanlisting, but i think i'll leave the talking to this site and my shrine (which was inspired by this!).
- Libertine - Reno Fanlisting
- this link is archived, but the website is actually still up!! YAY! i think the sense of humor displayed throughout these pages, as well as its accuracy to Reno's character, is top-tier. the way the webmaster wrote kinda rubbed off on me, and you might notice the similarities
