make yourself comfortable. i'm gonna be here a while...
this is your one-stop shop for all things evil, blonde, and presidential, curated by yours truly! i like this guy a normal amount. trust me. also, it's not a coincidence that i created this on President's Day teehee

so, why Rufus Shinra?!

do a little Google search. you'll see that every description of FF7 describes the Shinra Electric Power Company as your #1 enemy, and you should hate them. TRUE- you should.
yet, this guy is the Paris Hilton of Shinra. he's a jerk, he's a capitalist, and he's got coiffed hair! the three deadly sins! so why in the world is HE my favorite character?
sure, he's bad (note the double meaning), but not ALL that bad. now, i know everyone says this, but just hear me out!

when i first played FF7, he was like any other antagonist to me. in terms of fictional characters, he wasn't really 'my type', per se, but that changed after i read the light novel On The Way to a Smile (OTWTAS). when i tell you this book completely changed how i saw him... i did a 180 real fast.

without spoiling anything (FYI, this shrine will have FF7 spoilers), i realized that all of Rufus's actions were just him defending himself- for most of his life he stood completely alone, and never had anyone who really cared about him, despite constantly working hard to gain people's respect. so naturally, the moment he finally had the chance to gain worldwide admiration (when he was promoted), he took it. eventually karma caught up to him, and he did realize that his actions while holding that role were stupid as H-E-double hockey sticks. he then began using his power to help "heal the world", as he says at the end of OTWTAS.

Rufus's shift from bad to good was of his own accord and he didn't need anyone's help to change his views. to me, he was really strong for being able to do that in spite of everything he was going through during the book. underneath his cold exterior, he's a caring person with a desire to do right, and i love him so much

ok but like... he's still a bad person...
Not funny I didn't laugh. Your joke is so bad I would have preferred the joke went over my head and you gave up re-telling me the joke. To be honest this is a horrid attempt at trying to get a laugh out of m
